Here Is Why I Love My Doc Martens

posted on 11 August 2011

I'm an avid shoe collector - from Hotter shoes to high heels, I love them all. However, my favorite pair of shoes I would have to say would be my black Mary Jane Doc Martens that I’ve had for a really long time. They are the most comfortable shoes, as they are flat-heeled, and I wear them all the time. They look great whether I’m in dress slacks for church, or in blue jeans going to the market. I bought these shoes over 20 years ago, and I still wear them today, and I feel like they are still in style because they are pretty basic with a simple character that makes them multi-functional. They show a little wear and some of the stitching is starting to loosen up, so I know in time I will be looking for a replacement for these. I will probably look into some more Doc Martens when this time comes. Over the years I have bought other shoes for everyday and they were comparable to my Docs, but even though I only wore them occasionally, they have since had to be thrown out because of the wear and tear on them. The Docs have held up through it all.

Playing Favorites: a Shoe Addict's Story of the Perfect Pair

posted on 31 July 2011

I love shoes. I love shoes so much that I won't allow myself to go into a shoe store unless I have the money available to buy at least two pairs of shoes. Taking my daughter shoe-shopping for the new school year is a terrible challenge. I almost always break down and end up buying myself at least one pair, if not more, whether I need shoes or not. When I get dressed up to go out for fun with my husband or my friends I build the outfit around the shoes, so I like to have a lot of options to keep the fashion challenge fun. I have a favorite pair, though I feel a little guilty singling one pair as the very best, I have never found a shoe I enjoy more than my open-toed sling-back booties. The heel is about three and a half to four inches, the sole has a slight platform. The fabric is two-toned black with an almost silver glitter accent. Most high heels end up being uncomfortable after a long day at the office or a night out on the town. Even for a shoe addict like me there comes a point of delight in removing the heels and going barefoot. These booties, though, are so infinitely comfortable that I would eagerly walk around a new city exploring it them and then take them out dancing that night. The stretch of the fabric and the placement of the arch make for a perfect balance of softness and support that feels luxurious. In fact, after working out when my feet are starting to ache from walking or standing, I change into these shoes and feel instantly better. The shoes are also built for any outfit. They dress up a pair of jeans or dress down a fancy skirt taking all my outfits to a whole new level. The best part? I found these shoes at a discount shoe store for a bargain. I can't think of a more perfect pair of shoes.

Sandals Are a Girl's Best Friend

posted on 26 July 2011

Sandals Are A Girls Best Friend|One of my favorite, can not live without items, are sandals. Sandals have been around for nearly 4,000 years. Having been worn to keep the feet warm and protected, and held on with a mere piece of rawhide. Since then sandals have not only evolved, just as man has, but have become pretty popular and ingenious along the way. Until the 19th century people were forced to wear the same style footwear, until finally someone decided this wasn't good enough and made it possible for people to have their own personal sense of style. They go with anything - from dressy wear like party dresses and clutch bags, to casual dress-down style for the park. With this being said sandals started to change. They became colorful and unique. They started growing heels and straps and some big name companies started putting their logos on them as well. This of course made sandals fly off the shelves and into peoples closets. Sandals became such an important factor in peoples lives that they even have a museum dedicated to them in Canada. So with all this being said, if you don't have a pair of sandals which would be very hard to believe, you need to go and get yourself a pair and let your feet be free. Free of constriction and free of socks, because we all know socks and sandals are a thing of the past.
